We are looking for a full-time Maintenance Electrician with a HS Diploma/GED and 3 to 5 years' experience in electrical maintenance or associated work that can also lend a hand to troubleshoot and repair non-electrical problems of plant machinery/equipment. Wages may range from $20.00 to $24.00 per hour based on qualifications.

The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for diagnosing and repairing issues with electrical equipment and for completing any task related to the electrical components of the plant facility's machinery and equipment.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following is a list of specific duties which are considered the essential functions of this job. The list is not exhaustive, as all positions at the company are dynamic. The employee who occupies this position is expected to assume any/all duties assigned by management irrespective of whether such duties are specifically included in this list.

  • Maintain all plant electrical, electronic, and PLC equipment.
  • Inspects on a routine basis electrical equipment, wiring, fixtures and other components to ensure they remain functional and are up to code, as well as to identify any hazards or issues.
  • Assists with emergency/unscheduled troubleshooting and repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Determines the reasons for any malfunctions of systems or components and creates a maintenance or repair plan to solve the problem.
  • Repairs electrical systems, wiring, circuit breakers, equipment and other components so that they remain at full functioning capacity.
  • Installs, repairs, and maintains power controls, breaker boxes, electrical outlets, light switches, light fixtures, electrical wiring, fuses, and other components of an electrical system.
  • Tests systems with devices such as voltmeters, oscilloscopes and ohmmeters to ensure the system remains safe and that components are compatible.
  • Reviews blueprints to understand the placement of wiring or to comprehend the working of the equipment to provide the right service and repairs.
  • Provides suggestions on the lifespan of equipment and other electrical components, advising when certain components should be replaced due to potential risks.
  • Keeps records of all maintenance and repair work conducted, including a record of any supplies ordered and used.
  • Ensures all routine maintenance work is handled on a regular schedule to reduce the risk of larger and more complex issues and to reduce costs.

 SECONDARY DUTIES

  • Assists with highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility's equipment.
  • Performs all work in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Selects, installs, and pulls wiring to the required equipment locations.
  • Continually updates knowledge of plant systems and instrumentation.
  • Keeps work area clean and in orderly condition.
  • Other tasks as assigned by management.

 JOB SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • 3-5 years' experience in electrical maintenance or associated work
    • Familiar with the National Electrical Code
    • Demonstration of knowledge and skills through on the job performance reviews/evaluations
    • Strong verbal and oral communication skills

 Preferred:

    • Relevant electrician certifications and/or completion of a military, apprenticeship, trade school, or community college electrician program
    • Experience with industrial and construction equipment maintenance
    • Proven problem-solving skills

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to move about facility and spend time in production environment in all temperatures and climate conditions, around large rotating equipment, energized electrical equipment in high noise areas, and/or in confined places or from platforms at heights of 5 feet or greater.
  • Must be able to climb stairways and ladders.
  • Must be able to push, pull, bend, squat, stop, and twist comfortably many times throughout the day.
  • Must be able to work in a standing position during a regular 8 to 12-hour day.
  • Must be able to move throughout the facility without restrictions.
  • Must be willing to work a rotating shift and work overtime as needed.

 WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work will be performed through-out the facility. Steel-toed boots, hard hat, and safety glasses are required PPE at all times. In addition, ear (hearing) protection is required PPE in all areas of the OD Plant during production.
  • Work hours are determined by plant production or maintenance needs, including nights and weekends.
  • Lunch is 1/2 hour, paid unless leaving the campus. Breaks are taken as approved by supervision.
