SUMMARY

Responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety standards. Use predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site's business goals and objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility's equipment.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Communicate with vendors, original equipment manufacturers and service technicians to perform repairs and/or procure pricing and equipment parts.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and adjust.
  • Program and adjust functional parts, devices, controls, PLCs, drives, and computer-based software.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associates degree or higher in a maintenance tech program. Experience can be considered for formal education.
  • Position may require external and internal training for specific equipment and/or general knowledge.
  • Experience in maintaining a tool room/stores room.
  • Experience in industrial equipment repair and preventive maintenance.
  • Experience in small tool repair, light machining, and fabrication.
  • Experience with data entry and computers.
  • Electrical knowledge/experience and/or ability to weld to 1.5 standard desired.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must be able to use common hand tools such as grinders, chippers, wrenches and brooms.
  • Must be able to determine dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rulers, calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments.
  • Must be able to communicate with fellow workers regarding instructions, general work assignments and safety concerns.
  • Must be able to pass a fitness for duty evaluation specific to these physical job requirements.
  • Comply with Company and Industry Standards for Safety.
  • Effectively manage time and coordinate work with Maintenance Foreman.
  • Attention to detail and follow-up.
  • Ability to follow directions and work in a team environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Must demonstrate problem solving abilities and good organizational skills.
  • Mathematical skills needed for evaluation of data and computation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to work in a standing position during a regular 8 to 10-hour day.
  • Must be able to use, pull and guide material with the aid of overhead cranes or jib hoists.
  • Must be able to hold required tools in their hand to perform repairs and maintenance.
  • Must be able to handle up to 20 pounds on a constant basis throughout the day, 20 to 50 pounds frequently during the day, 50 to 100 pounds occasionally during the day.
  • Push, pull, bend, squat, stoop and twist comfortably many times throughout the day
  • Must be able to tolerate ambient air temperatures during all times of the year.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work will be performed through-out the facility. Steel-toed boots, hard hat, and safety glasses are required PPE at all times. In addition, ear (hearing) protection is required PPE in all areas of the OD Plant during production.
  • The standard work week is Monday through Friday with hours determined by plant production or maintenance needs.
  • Lunch is 1/2 hour, paid unless leaving the campus. Breaks are taken as approved by supervision.
